Could anyone shed any light on this buggy, I kinda got a affinity for Tamiya kits, and their engineering.

Are u talking about the rerelease or the original?
anyway the design is similar to mdoern 2wd buggies: 3-gear trasmission, slipper clutch, and a very similar layout with battery down center. It also haas fiberglass chassis and shock towers, alloy shocks with teflon inserts, Universal drive shafts, and a pink 17T tamiya motor.
Get one if your collecting, it the same as the original, but will be brand new!
Not so good for racing though. The transmission is very heavy so you'll loose some accelleration to the modern buggies. The stock tyres will probably be too hard but modern 2.2 tyres will fit.

Check out, www.tamiyaclub.com for the original version. Someone is bound to have it on that site, otherwise RCV Models stock the re-release at £***.

THAT much, they must be taking the persistence out of the buying public for that, I thought it would be less than a Fireblade!!!

Could always wait for the Tamiya Neo Shot, an intermediate level model, won't have all the 'shiny nobs' on, but will be pretty good still!

No, it's OK, it was mostly for nostalgia, as I started racing 2wd with an Astute, and after a long time racing, I don't think I could go back to some nylon bushings and plastic tub.....
Although they will probably bring out a fully featured version costing a small fortune.

Aye your right, they are bringing a TRF version of the Baja King out. It was showcased at the Shizuoka '03 Hobby Show.
