Might sound silly but does the Factory Team come with a choice of front diff?
I'm considering buying one but noticed at club yesterday that those that have FTs have one-ways fitted. Although it suits some its not to everyones tastes so I was wondering if you get the choice and if not how easy is it to get a normal diff so I can do some testing.

If it makes any difference we run on carpet with carpet dragons and 19Ts. Any setup ideas appreciated. :)

Many thanks

The FK comes with just a front one way. You have to purchase a front diff or a spool separately.

Thanks for that.

Can a diff be purchased as a complete unit? And whats different about a spool diff? never heard of that before.

Apologies if these questions seem a bit basic.

Thanks

The diff comes as a complete unit already built but I would recommend stripping it down when you get and grease it properly. (mine wasn't done properly but the one you get might be but check it all the same)

A spool, fixed or locked diff is all the same just different terminology. A spool mean that the front axles are fixed and the wheels will always rotate at the same speed. (someone will probably disagree with me but this is my definition)

I would try the one way in your racing condition as I use the one-way in stock (and i've tried it in 19t) and it seem to work very well.

I use:
Front
Dark blue
3 hole pistons
30wt xray oil
outside hole on shock tower (new shock tower)
middle roll centre in the bulkhead
shortest camber link (on new shock tower)

Rear
white
3 hole pistons
30wt xray oil
outside hole on shock tower
high roll centre in bulkhead
camber link in the bulkheads (as std)

Don't apologise for asking basic questions everyone has to start somewhere.

Can someone explain the difference between a "one-way" & a "spool".

I believe you can make a spool by just gluing a standard diff, is that true??

A quote taken fron Tony Vredenberg "One-way has more turn-in and increased traction when accelerating out of the corner allowing you to carry more speed out of the corner. However braking is difficult as only the rear wheels will be used to decelerate.

The spool works exactly the same as a one-way on corner exit, but has much less turn-in than both the one-way and the diff. But like the diff, with a spool you can brake hard into the corner as all four wheels will contribute to the deceleration.

With rubber tyres a one-way is almost allways faster. The exceptions are when grip is very low and when a track requires hard braking for some corners"

I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you can get a diff really cheap as the spool costs less

RRP diff £34.99
RRP Spool £19.99

try using the one way i prefer it to using a diff on rubber tyre on carpet
