Hello
i was just wondering what you guys thought the best hop up options are to get for the xxx-s. they don't have to make the car look better but must make the car perform better
thanks Mike

My next investment is a 1 way diff, need to save some penny's first. ;D

List of hop-ups on my XXXS
Fastrax alloy c-hubs and alloy rear hubs
Dynamite alloy wheel hexes
Tamiya TB Evo 3 front bodyposts
Graphite plus front bumper and top piece
Threaded shocks
Ratzas carbon shock towers
Full F-Max titanium screw set (-30g from weight :D)
Fibreglass belt cover (thanks Marcus ;) )
Yellow Losi belt
Don't know how much faster it is with these parts on, but it's a lot lighter and stronger, especially with the G+ front bumper bits and the Tamiya bodyposts. The yellow belt off the G+ is also a good part to get, frees up the drivetrain a lot! To be honest, there isn't much you can do to improve the speed of the car, just keep working on your setup and lots of practice, gearing is also very important if you are running stock.

i got the following :
red aluminium threaded shock collars - the plastic ones in the kit became loose after a few strip-downs.
red aluminium motor clamp - it holds the motor much more securely
1/2deg offset rear hubs - brings the rear toe-in to 3deg
home made front bumper brace - 3mm polypropylene - the standard G+ top bumper plate broke one of my front shock shafts in a rather savage crash by bending back - my new home made version screws to the bulkhead and is rubber mounted to allow some give when interfacing with the track markers....
thats about it - the parts were mainly to improve performance over the std kit bits

the car really doesn't need anything.. i dont like alloy stuff where it's not intended, as theese can tweek to easily. prob worth investing in a 1 way diff, and definatly irs's solid spool is a good choice.
having the option of the offset and none offset rear hubs is handy too...

If its not a graphite plus the only must is the alloy rear roll center mods the rest is not really gonna do much. Suggest the red motor plate for out doors as allows you to raise the motor slightly and stops you knowcking the magnets.

It may look the dog danglies but how much faster is the car???
All you need now is some red neons along the side to bring it up to the weight limit! 8)

JJ:-
What do the Lunsford " quick change " mounts do???

Ops didn't read the post properly , I have the G= not the standard s but I still want a 1 way. ;D
The quick change mounts have a nut either side of the shock tower so you can change the position by undoing 1 nut instead of removing the nyloc but, the shock the collar, the other nut etc..

Blue is better ? Long Live RED !!

it would indeed be an interesting experiment to build a car from 'spares'

That would be a good idea, price building YOUR car, with ALL the hop ups instead of the original part, and see how much extra it would of cost you instead of just buying the original kit?

surely the red alloy is heavier than stock? plus alu twists and stays that way, that can seriously screw your set up... sure it looks nice and all though....
the car is great stock. only really set up options are needed.
Looks tasty though :-)
Yeah I agree I'd recommend the one piece thrust races, alloy drive shafts and lightweight diffs, titanium screws to reduce weight where needed.
The only reason most options are fitted is because I bought them from America and paid the same price as buying the kit over here :-)

sounds scrummy but i have a tendancy to scratch ali :'(
i bet your car is super smooth with them ceramic bearings, unfortunately my wallet could only stretch to replacement steel ones :)
what differance will one piece thrust races do.
i am on a mission to make my car a lot free-er as it's a little tight for my liking.
Mike
The Trinity Spur Gear Adaptor is great in that it allowes the use of other teeth Options Than Just 86 88 & 90 (assuming 48Dp) Losi Ones That Are Not Exactly very true, but it does seem a bit steep at £30 when purchasing it! but it does make a differance especially when fine tuning gearing.

Have any of you seen the hop ups from SpeedTechRc in the US? SSG Shock towers and aluminum steering bellcranks and pivot supports.
In having spent the past year running everything under the sun for the XXXS, this stuff has held up quite well.
I also found the Spur gear adaptors from Jet Racing quite true and will allow use of RW or Xenon spurs in your XXXS.

Mark - I have some American Ratzas carbon fibre shock towers, they are the nicest carbon fibre parts I have ever seen, the quality is incredible.
I just need a new chassis now after a minor mishap last weekend. Does anyone know of an interesting looking chassis that is a bit different?
Mark Dawson

There has not been a new chassis version other than some self-milled versions of the chassis. In most of the cases, the trade off has been lightening the chassis vs. having a seal drivetrain.
IMO, you cant go wrong with standard graphite graphite plus version. The sealed drivetrain really is a not worth giving up for outdoor racing.

I myself have found a nice cheap sight but they don't do many losi bits :'(
although they do do the jet racing spur gear adapter, and some jet ali aswell as some topcad threaded shocks, just need to find out if they will go on the xxxs
the g+ shocks are a pain in the bum :P
thanks Mike
