I am seeing brush cutters and serrators advertised, is there a difference and does anyone use specific ones?

Mark, they are two entirely different tools.

A brush cutter (a good one) will allow you to slot brushes in various locations and angles, or cut side edges off the brush, particularly useful for laydown brushes if you are reducing the brush/comm overlap, easier and more accurate than using a hand file or dremel.

A serrator will do just that, it's only purpose is to cut. or re-cut, the serrations onto the face of a brush, again a good one will cope with both laydown and stand up, including the P94 brushes. Also the serrator can be used to convert from stand-up to laydown as well.
