I've always run mine exactly as they come from the factory - same brushes, springs and timing.
I guess this is a good starting point - what happens if you go for softer / harder springs or different brushes? Does tweaking the springs in a pair of pliers have the same effect as softer springs?

as a rule i never "tweak" springs... as if you want to re-create the same performance in a different motor you have a lot of in-accuracies and alot of varibales.
if you hop-on over to the trinity forum...and look under the thread names "switchblade".... then on the 1st page i explain about springs.
i always use the 10/30's... i get a whole weekend out of them in 10turn motors!!!!!! i guess you could buy really expensive brushes and chnage them every run... but at 2quid a pop and they can last all weekend with very good power... why bother??? ???
hope that helps mate

Looking @ Trinity site and they go for 4383's for 1/12 scale use.
Anyone using them?, your thoughts on these please

Reference the 4383's, these are generally whats used for the best performance. depending on how hard you drive these should last approx 3 runs at a high level of performance and maybe more, you will probably need a skim in between. After the three runs take off and keep them for club use. Regarding springs, last year a fairly soft spring like the Trinity Gold or a slightly firmer Green spring was used but with the extra Joules this season maybe an even stronger spring may be favoured. Try it!!
