Ok,
Seeing as theres a few of us running em in here, thought it's about time I shared some of the stuff I've produce whilst running the car.

All the charts are in excel, so if you would like them to use yourself, just send me an email through the forums.

Gearing first up

64dp Gearing Chart (http://www.thard.co.uk/rc/TRF415/gearing.jpg)

Spur on the left, pinion on the top.

Next Toe blocks

TRF415 Toe Blocks (http://www.thard.co.uk/rc/TRF415/Toe%20blocks.jpg)

Front block is on the top, rear block on the side. Top chart is for Rear toe, NOT taking into account hub angle. Green is positive toe, Red negative. Second chart is for std rear suspension, third for LWT, whilst the final one is for front INBOARD toe, as the outboard can be adjusted with the steering links.

I'll post some setups of mine later.
Regards
Ed

two setups for now, few things to note though. Both use the LWT arm set for the 415, and the setup sheet is a modified version (that I edited in Paintshop Pro) to take into account the lwt arms, and also to understnad it a bit better.
Also all the setups were done for 27t stock, so they might need adjusting for a mod.

First one is for Don Valley Stadium, useful for anyone who will be doinf the HPI indoor winter series.

Don Valley (http://www.thard.co.uk/rc/TRF415/Setup%20sheet%20(LWT%20arms)%20DV%2027-08-04.jpg)

Setup uses a spool (and direct centre pulley), and because of this I had to run the front end softer than for one-ways, just to get the grip into the turns. the only other changes from standard were to add a little front kick-up (which I pretty much run all the time) with 0.7mm spacers under the front/front suspension block. And the front shock tower mounting is in one hole.
At the front I run a C block at the front, and the hop-up A-bridge on the back. This does two things, in narrowing the front a little (by about 2.6mm o/a), and adding some inboard toe out (it also reduces the wheelbase), it seems to give the front end more on-power steering, which is highly useful in stock when trying to keep the momentum up.
When combined with the silver 6mm wheel hexes, the slightly narrower front also allows 26mm wheel/tyres to be used without rubbing on the steering arm knuckle, and without going over the 190mm width limit.

Second setup, indoor carpet at Sharley Park.

Sharley Park Setup (http://www.thard.co.uk/rc/TRF415/Setup%20sheet%20(LWT%20arms)%20Sharley%2004-09-04.jpg)

This is more like a standard setup from kit, the only things I've really changed are the springs, and roll bars. (And the C/A suspension blocks on the front, see above). I find that with one ways on carpet the car has soooo much steering that it make the rear end fairly unstable, so to try and calm it down a little I put white springs, along with the yellow roll bar on the front, and it is deffiently much smoother like that. The only thing I have been changing recently is the rear springs, sometimes going stiffer (white) or softer (yellow).
Something you can do is run AE Blue springs on the front, which are stiffer than the Tam whites, so would allow you to drop the Anti-roll bar a bit.

Anyway, hope these are useful to someone

Hey all,
I've updated my RC pages for the 415, has all my setups and tips etc on it for the 415.
I'm going to attempt to keep it better updated too, and if anyone has setups they wish to send me, I'll happily post them on there.

Ed,

Some good setups there. A nice resource - keep it going! Just a tip: maybe make the xls files as pdfs instead?

I've had the TRF415 for a while now chasing a good setup - i struggled with understeer for ages then tried this setup with a direct center pulley, C/A at the front and it works like a dream. The car is lightning quick now AND predictable whereas before it was all over the place.

How are you finding the LW suspension set? Worth the investment?

I havent actually got the ability to make pdf's unfortuantly. Guess I could make them as just plain picture files...
Glad you like the setups, I'll try and keep it updated regularly (ie when people send me some).
I've found the LWT set quicker in the transitions than the std set, thats the main difference, plus a little extra grip all round. Minor gripe is that when running 26mm tyres there is slight rubbing on the steering knuckle, actually more bumps than a permanent rub. I deffiently found the C/A setup on the front to be better though.

Hey tryhard, i recently did the junior nationals at don valley and started at pretty much kit setup. I lowered the front roll centre by 2mm, put a spool in an thats pretty much it. The car was utterly railed! Unfortunately i only had 1 ok qualifying run which put me low down in the B. The 3rd run i was on for a good place in the A but my driveshaft pin randomly snapped going down the straight. Did well in the final tho, came from 7th on the grid an won it by about 8 seconds. That time would have put me middle of the A final.
Oh by the way i was using the normal suspension.
I was just looking at your gearing chart and have noticed a mistake. the 102t and 105t spurs to 26t pinion are wrong. I only noticed cause this is the gearing i was running that weekend.
Cheers for your advice on setup Phil C.

thanks phil, I'll give it a check over and correct it.
You running at the BIWS at don Valley with your 415? I'm booked in to do all the rounds in stock, bar the January one. If so see you there :D
