Indeed there are 2 206's. I believe one is made by keith dowsett (kamtec), the other is made by john elliot (epm?). I think the kamtec shell has more detail (around the grille, lights etc...)

I haven't tried either yet, although I'll have one for the worlds, along with my trusty clio mk1! :D

EPM's is a rally 206, Kamtec's is a Hotrod rep

I used to run a starlet last year in the Nationals, but had changed to a 205 this year, and as Mr. Stiles took great delight in pointing out - that I had a better handling car last year and scored higher in each round. (still beat him last year!), Finished 4th again this year overall...

The starlets are a much "safer" handling car than something like a V6 Clio or a 206 which are create very sharp steering.... Up to you i guess..

and also - the starlet is the most authentic shell to have on a V12. It was what started stock rod oval racing!!! thats gonna be my next shell :D

i use a starlet all the time every thing else rolls all the time!
and saves your tyres a bit longer because of the flaired archs!

There's only one body shell for me; the mk 1 clio! I tried a 206 at the worlds and got too much understeer. The clio was perfect.

Funny how I was the only one in the final who used a clio; everyone else had 206's!

Understeer!? 206's in my opinion increase steering if anything, I would have run a Starlet if I had one, had Grip roll with the 205...

Yep, I ran a kamtec 206 with a parma wing, and it understeered like a pig compared to my trusty clio!

Thats why you won it then it was the body not the driver after all........

I'm very tempted in the Starlet but am doing pretty well with the clio. might have a couple of Starlets and Clio's painted for the nationals.

I don't think its possible to class shells as to whether they handle or not. Different shells simply handle differently, and every driver will have his/her own preference.

There are some designs that are generally accepted as being 'good' shells, and these tend to be used by the majority of drivers. These include the clio mk1, the wb205, the 206, the starlet (both varieties) and the 206.

i am now painting up my shell for the nationals 2005, does having a spoiler make much difference to the handling of the car

Mark Stiles

Not really sure on that one, as I always run a mk1 clio without a wing. However, lots of the top national drivers use huge aerofoils on the roofs of their 205's/206's/starlets, so it could make a difference!

The way i see it is;

Is it worth having that weight so high up if it's only going to give you a benefit that can be achieved through other methods (ie more grip/better handling)?

i will try with/without and get back to you [it has to do somthing  if not just look good!]

Mine and Keith's (national champion!) opinion was that real life hotrods have wings so we should! I use the lexan wing from Kamtec........ Cut the rear Gurney flap out totally so you just have large endplates.. This does aid stability on the car.... I personally think the new 'Kamtec' Starlet is probably the best all round shell to run..

Proof of the pudding is in the eating!

Ah yes, but the world champ doesn't run a wing! :D ;)

I tried a 206 with a parma wing at the worlds. I found the car to be very understeery.
