Is anyone running the alloy bodied shocks on their Xray?
I seem to remember reading on MyTSN that they're not as good as the standard black plastic kit bodies, as they are prone to leaking?
Anyone agree/disagree?
Cheers

don't run an Xray myself but I know someone with a factory kit who bought the Ali shock bodies and the tops kept coming off and they went back to the plastic ones.

Hi,
I ran the alloy shock bodies at Bedworth and the cap for sealing the oil in at the bottom kept coming off. I'm not sure if it was because i never twisted them enough or because of the alloy bodies.

I have been using the alloy shocks for ages now and i think there better than the plastic ones and are less prone to leaking,
As currantbun said it can be hard to get the cap on the bottom, you really have to turn the cap very hard to get it on all the way but once on there brilliant, i only touch mine to try a different oil, they never seem to need re building :D

I upgraded to the Tamiya shocks, much better than Xray's!

I used them on my t1. The main advantage I can think of it the shock retaining collars are easier to screw up and down as is the top cap to screw on and off. Not come round to buying some for my FK yet.

I did do some race testing with various shocks but reverted back to Xray shocks.

I have run the alu shock bodies for 3 years on the original T1 and Evo2 ( now with XRC chassis and short wishbones ETC) the shock bodies are first class the plastic ones wear internaly and also wear the piston ( progresivly making damping less and less) also the plastic threads gum up with debris which wears them and helps to get them cross threaded. Not an esential upgrade but when you're shocks need rebuilding/ some attention they make good sence for more consistant damping and less maintenance. :)

Of my fleet of Xray's, the EVO II have the kit shock bodies, but I couldn't get on with the FT ones, so I replaced them with Tamiya ones...... great!
