i was wondering whether anyone has tried changing the roll centres on the losi xxx-s g+ from the high front / low rear kit set-up to another combination ?.
my car is set up as following and suffers from a lack of turn-in and general sharpness round the track (indoors / carpet).
front
65wt oil, red piston
purple springs
posn 3 camber link
posn 3 top shock
1 deg camber
4 deg caster
2 deg kickup (2F carrier)
0 deg toe-in
3mm droop
high roll centre
rear
40wt oil, red piston
blue springs
posn 2 camber link & inside hole on hub
posn 2 topshock, outer hole on susp. arm
2 deg camber
3 deg toe in (with 1/2deg hubs in outer holes on arm)
2 deg anti-dive (2R carrier)
5mm droop
low roll centre
tyres
sorex 24R with sorex 'A' medium inserts on schumacher 24mm rev-lite wheels. LRP blue additive
bodyshell
protoform stratus 2.0
any hints / tips ?. ???
i want to stay on rubber tyres as that's what the club usually run in the championship.
has anyone tried pit shimizu D20 wets on carpet ? - if so what were they like and what insert is recommended ?.
thanks

Try a more equal oil setup all round to make it more agressive, I run 55 f and r Black springs f green r. Suggest you don't lower caster indeed I tend to run about 6 deg to give more on power steering. Try also shortening the camber change on the front and run about 2 deg camber for better footprint.
If you want it to be more reactive try standing the shocks up a hole at the front it will give more initial direction change but may tend to wash mid corner and be twitchy on the straight.
I wouldn't mess with roll centers as if you raise the rear you will find it tends to let go mid corner, you could get the ally front rc's as this allows a mid setting or the cheaper option is to file half a mil off the bottom of the plastic ones.
Tyre, wheel and addative choice sounds fine, also try proline 26 inch up, echo yellow sorex 24s ... or Pit 26 wets or inters, standard 26 wheel and Schuee wide grey inserts ! thats what they all run at clay cross

Try 50 Weight oil all round, i have black springs front and purple rear, grips well, was gripping to much and i was losing time as a fellow losi racer pointed out to me! :D As for the roll centre's naa, just run kit setup, if you get the car to handle it will go well on any track.

thanks for that - are the black springs harder than the purples ?
i will change the shock oil and try some different springs for next week.
matt - the spec i described is the one you gave me in the shop a while ago but i guess things move on....i might go to sharley park on saturday night - is it all stock or do they race mod aswell ?
thanks again,

Yeh I gave you the "safe" setup we use for most peeps to start off with as sometimes my setups are too agressive and cause damage ! . If you pop in I can go through it with you if u like and make it turn up its own butt.

Oh, and they do mod and stock at clay cross but not many peeps do mod for some reason

with the green springs on the back it will make the car more stable as it grips a little better. The blacks are harder the purples, but the purples springs that got on the front in the manual.

bodyshell
protoform stratus 2.0
ther's your problem, get hold of a vectra, or an alfa, and watch that thing turn in....
if BRCA rules arn't too important, the losi alfa is awesome.... i couldn not get my xxx-s sharp with a strat 2.0, no matter what you do with it.

Right here we go, this is the setup I run indoors on carpet with foams, but before you yelp, I run a race on the same setup with Take Off sc22's with the medium insert, and did the same laps as on foams so well ;D the car was well sorted and great to drive, did have a tough of grip role if you where aggressive in to fast corners, but easily dealt with.
front
60wt oil, red piston
purple springs
posn 2 camber link
posn 3 top shock
2 deg camber
4 deg caster
0 deg kickup (0F carrier)
0.5 deg toe-out
2mm droop
high roll centre
6mm ride hight
rear
50wt oil, red piston
Silver springs
posn 6 camber link & inside hole on hub standard hub's not offset. Only running standard hubs as broke one of the off sets and haven't got round to replacing them yet)
posn 2 top shock, outer hole on susp. arm
1 deg camber
2 deg toe in (std)
0 deg anti-dive (0R carrier)
4mm droop
low roll center
6mm ride hight
Take off sc22's with std medium insert

Disagree with the shell, the P/Form Alfa 2.0 kicks some serious ass on the circuit, since i've ran one i've had 2 TQs and 1 A final win (destroyed car in other ::) ) and I haven't had it long, before that I was using a P/Form Stratus 2.0 and it was absolute rubbish, no grip, no sharpness, the car just didn't have the edge like it has with the alfa 2.0.

This thread is dying! I have left a note in the staff room. To stop the forum going belly up, I will lock this one for now untill it is fixed. Feel free to start another one to continue this discussion, and it will be merged with this one when its fixed.

re. the bodyshell - i have a losi alfa which i have run for a while. maybe its me but i really haven't noticed any difference between that and the p/form stratus 2.0.
anyway - i will use them back to back next race and try and find a difference.
thanks for all your opinions
