Hi there,

BC Special will go well straight out of the box, especially the latest version as it even has Ti turnbuckles!!!

A few mods help reliability though....

Shouldered diff screws not palin ones (not expensive but well worth it)

Shim kits for diffs and axles to get it perfect (all moulded parts vary a bit, no matter who makes them!!)

Fasttrax alloy front knuckles will stop any breakages there (rare ish but at £15 for the alloy ones why risk loosing a run / meeting???)

Most people, myself included, run the Associated shocks but to be fair the advantage is only really marked on very bumpy tracks.

There you go, PM me if you want any specific info. There are several people running them on here so keep checking for their comments.

So far everybody that has driven a Special has said they think the car is great .... nuff said!!

rog has told you most things. gold bearings go in the front but if you get the alloy steering arms you need smaller ones anyway. But if you use the gold ones in the rear you get a lot of slop. (they are smaller)

If you use standard steering arms the bearings pull through. and the alloy ones give you more steering............so at 15 quid plus bearings its a cheap mod.

The car that qualified 2nd on the grid was standard apart from blue allow steering arms and we did not even have shouldered diff screws. It was built the Satuday night of the F2's and was only its second meeting (other than a final as we suffered major interference at Walsall)

I have to apologise to Roger who has been telling me all year how good the BC was as I did not realise how good until too late.

I also revise my judgement that Craggy does have a good chance in the worlds with the BC I was not too sure until the weekend. Our car had a BRM powered, 12 double in it and I defy anyone who saw it to say it was slow (thanks Glyn) Oh and we are not even BRM Team drivers either in case you wondered. Just how good it will be on a quick grippy track with one of the worlds best drivers remains to be seen but I for one would love to be there to see it go!

I qualified 4th at the F3's and the car was so much better than that. (would have been TQ if i could drive for more than 4 1/2 mins!! ::))

The car handled very well. Great turn-in & the rear followed well. Good over the bumps and although I wasn't able to show it on the low grip worcester track, it has awesome acceleration from the short rear belt.

The only mods on mine are AE diff balls (carbide, had some spare for the B4) and the AE shocks that I "borrowed" off my dad's B4.

The only issue i have with the car at present is snapping diff screws. Like Rog said previous, the shouldered ones are a worthwhile upgrade and seem to solve the prob for most people.

Really looking forward to running the car at next years Nats. ;D

Gaz, I think I've chracked the diff screw problem your suffering!!

TC3 screw, losi slim 4-40 nut in the plastic diff out drives (use the savers on the back, my fronts have never worn without them so I guess theere is no point in putting them on!!

The trust race is that from a TTech Pred (screw JUST goes through it, well it does on my spares anyway...!)

Assemble the diff as per instructions and be careful not to over tighten the screw ..... all that is left is o prove the durabilty!!!!

As I can't break the shoulderd Yokomo screw (famous last words..) you'll have to test it for me ;)

Nice one. ;D

Tried the Losi alu 4-40 nut in plastic outdrives in front & it seemed fine.
Must get TTech thrust race & "borrow" diff screw off my dad's TC3!

Think i will now try tightening diff screw till it feels right rather than locking it & then backing off.

Will keep looking for bullet-proof diff screw though. Must be out there somewhere???

Lunsford might do a titanium one that you can use.

i know they are doing screw sets for most cars now
